This calendar design consists of twelve separate canisters for each month. The days of the month are wrapped around the canisters as individual slips of paper. An additional slip of paper wrapped around the outside of each canister displays the three letter abbreviation of the corresponding month. The papers are perforated vertically and string is woven under and over the perforation. These multiple layers of string and paper form the canister’s tear drop shape.
In order to advance to the next day, one simply grasps the canister and pulls up or down on the string. This design concept was inspired by a china marker or wax pencil, where the user pulls on the string to expose more of the pencil rather than sharpen it.
